Aloha LCF Ohana!!! We are so happy to know ALL of you are doing well! We did it! We are healthy and ready to get back to the box and start BOOSTING our immune systems and our VIBES! We are SO EXCITED to be in the box with your energy!!!!!

WE FINALLY GOT THE GREEN LIGHT TO OPEN 6/1....TOMORROW (10am-12am)

Times have definitely changed…and we are doing all we can to help make the BEST out of this experience. Our re-opening will be a transition for all of us. 

The Box was always our happy place, and we expect it to be even more so now!

We are basically starting FRESH with new beginnings as we all return. There will be new policies in place to ensure everyone’s safety.

In order to open up - we are asking for your cooperation!

We will need ALL of the equipment back to the box NEXT WEEK 6/1 - 6/5. We will be there for equip drop off AND have OPEN GYM from 10AM - 12PM M-F. If you cannot make those times, please contact us ASAP to be sure we have your pieces of equipment no later than that Fri 6/5.(Failure to return by this time will result in charges to your credit card on file for the full replacement price of the equipment including shipping.) 

All members must have updated waivers and contracts and be current on their membership before returning to their training at the box. Once you have returned your borrowed equipment, updated your online waiver, and updated and have an active and current membership - feel free to test out the WOD floor during the above times as well!

Now is a really great time to get to know your WODHOPPER accounts! (WODHOPPER is the system you use when you check in at the box.) This is where you can generate your online profile, enter your stats, use it as a journal, etc. Also, this is how you can access your account information and keep it up to date.  http://www.lahainacrossfit.com click on the WODHOPPER tab on the left side (desktop) or top of screeen (smartphone) to sign up or login.

**Through WODHOPPER is how you will access the days WOD as well.  Again..we will not be posting the WOD on our website starting on Tuesday.  Our WODs will only be available to our members via the WODHOPPER and the daily white board at the gym. 

We’ve all been out of our routine for a while. We will ALL need to ease back in...For the month of June, we will only have Open Gym hours. We will not have coach led classes. We will have the warm ups on the board along with all sections of the programming and even some additional bodyweight workouts. Now is your time to come as you like, and do the parts of the programming you choose to do;) If you prefer to wait until classes are offered, we understand and will accommodate your existing membership contract. We will also offer specialty clinics (gymnastics, mobility, OLY, etc) for those of you who want to continue to increase your skills with a coach. As always, we do offer one on one personal training sessions as well. We are doing our best to open up opportunities for all fitness levels in a variety of ways that will help us adhere to the new standards.

We grew up "this way", in that town, where our parents never gave us "X". We look to that past and dwell on the pain, being broken, or being handicapped. And I am who I am because of my past. We've all had that friend who can't stop talking about "how things were in the past".

One of life’s greatest tragedies: we tend to think that things will be different if we achieve more, win more, or make more money. But if those things have never changed us before, even if we win the world… would it change us today? Like thirsty people guzzling salt water, it’s a never-ending cycle that does not lead to fulfillment. 

Yet we can work tirelessly for that next finish line, putting all of eggs in that basket, wishing, hoping, and working tirelessly to get there. One of our greatest fears, as written in the quote above, is to get there, and to realize… we didn’t climb the right ladder. It didn’t bring us to where we wanted to be. How we wanted to feel.

It always boils down to this – the quality of our relationships, the positive influence we impart on others, and who we become in the process. Hustle is crucial, but placing first things first is absolutely vital. Which ladder are we climbing today?

Congrats to a great first week LCF family!   We know each week is only going to get better!  

We will have an 8am Class and 9am Open Gym Saturday June 6th.  If joining us for the 8am class please be on time as we will go through a warm up together and WOD at 3.2.1 Go!...just like old times! 

An email will be coming your way regarding our new open gym/class schedule for the future. We will be doing a mixture of Classes and Open gym. Keep in mind nothing is permanent and we are working with the circumstances given and have taken in account feedback from you all. 

LCF/COMPTRAIN MINDSET:

To us, LCF is more than just a CrossFit gym.  We are people from all walks of life who come together in fitness and always support one another. 
 
Regardless of your skin color, race, ethnicity, gender, religious beliefs or sexual orientation, our fitness Ohana is a place where you can always be accepted and be YOU!! 
 
CrossFit to us is a methodology, a mindset of self improvement, hardwork, and a community of people committed to supporting each other.  
 
We love our LCF Ohana and all we have worked so hard to build here on West Maui. Due to these recent comments by CrossFit CEO Greg Gassman, we are taking our time to evaluate our involvement/affliation with CrossFit Inc.

It’s a cliche to say life is short.

Instead of focusing on doing more, on accomplishing more… *appreciate* more. In a world where the norm is do more and more… it’s a step back. When obstacles arise, we often find ourselves at a crossroad. One option is that we can allow the adversity to adjust our goal, moving into a state of compromise. The other option is that we keep the destination… and adjust the sails.

If our reaction under adversity is to compromise the goal and make it a bit easier, we’re now simply continuing on to “check the box”. But goals aren’t meant to be checked – they are meant to change us. And anything of that magnitude is going to mother-freaking-hard.

Let’s make it part of our identity – when times get hard, we go harder.

To ask ourselves the simple question - “What could I have done better?” The pitfall is to think of what *others* could do, but that’s the immediate back door out of improvement. Everything starts with taking responsibility.

There is a difference between understanding what we need to do, and actually doing it.

Most people don’t have an issue knowing what they need to do. They make goals, lists, priorities, to-do’s. But despite it being buttoned up on paper – the separation lies in execution.

We anticipate the work of the entire project, and... it becomes paralyzing. In those moments, we need to remind ourselves that we aren’t looking to gather the energy to finish. We are looking to gather the energy to just start. Whether it’s the search of a new job, a new PR, or even a significant other, we just need to take that first step in the process. The rest has its way of falling into place. For an object in motion, tends to stay in motion.

Leonardi DiVinci was one of the first documented individuals to believe that humans could take flight. Before such an idea became a mainstream success… talk about a horrific idea! The thought of hurling a human into the air, like a bird, with no guarantee of landing. 

The above quote speaks to his greatest accomplishment. His mastery over his mind. He well knew of the risks, and well recognized the fears. But he believed it to be possible through it all.

The one person that will stop of us from doing what we want to do, looks back at us in the mirror.
It’s good to acknowledge that the primary job of our brain is to keep us safe. It’s going to try to keep us away from risk, danger, and failure.

When we are only interested in a goal, one that doesn't deeply drive us, we'll feel the first obstacle that comes our way... and stop. We can find compromises, and comfort-based decisions, given how the uncomfortableness of the inevitable struggle is stronger than our will to win.

Yet, what the quote urges us to do, is to fully commit. Before we embark on the journey, to fully sit and realize the work that is to come. The challenges we'll face. And to visualize, overcoming all of them. To build this will to be so strong, that no amount of obstacles could ever stop it.

Struggle is guaranteed. The difference will be our level of commitment amidst. No matter where we go in life, let’s go with our full heart.

In the abundance mindset, there is the belief all human beings are good. No one is born evil. The differences, between a terrorist and a police officer, are not malintentions. Both in their own mind, believe they are doing "the right thing". The difference between the two are their interpretations, and understanding, of the world. Massive differences, but still at the root, perspectives.

A situation we can all relate to from some point in our lives, is poor first impression. An introduction to someone who... you’d rather not spend another second on. After the interaction, you want to distance yourself as far away as possible. Yet, life puts us right back next to them, not by choice, but by chance.

And we talk. And we strike some common ground. And we understand. We may not be close friends, but the brief amount of time we spent with them afforded us the chance to better understand their perspective.

Next time we find ourselves feel the wave of animosity towards someone, remind ourselves… we just need to get to know them a little bit better.

Yet with such (healthy) discussion and debate, we can find drama, confusion, and blurred lines. And in that, we paralyze ourselves to actually doing... anything. It starts, and ends, as purely a discussion.

Marcus Aurelius urges us to contemplate less, and act more. To let actions be our loudest statement. To be the change we want to see in this world, rather than to argue for it.
